The Customs Service has avoided losses due to counterfeit goods in the amount of RUB 4.6 bln in 2017

“According to the results of 2017, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia prevented damage by counterfeit goods to the intellectual property right holders in the amount of RUB 4.52 bln, as reported by the FCS press service. 10.1 mln items of counterfeit goods were discovered by Customs authorities last year.

In 2017, Customs agencies of Russia initiated 1,072 administrative offence cases in connection with violation of intellectual property rights. The majority of such cases (1,058 cases) were related to illegal use of registered trademarks. 14 cases were initiated for infringement of copyright and allied rights, says the report.

In the year 2016, losses in the amount of RUB 4.3 bln were avoided. Thus, the index increased by 7.4%.
