18.07.2018

The 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM is over. It was remembered by enchanting victories, bitter defeats, impeccable organization and a friendly atmosphere.

5 national teams were based in St. Petersburg: the national teams of Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Costa Rica, England as well as Croatia, the runners-up of the FIFA World Cup. Customs operations and customs control of the national teams were carried out in the VIP lounges of the Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg). The average time for passing through Customs by the delegations ranged from 8 to 27 minutes, and the average baggage handling by the officials of the Pulkovo Airport Customs Post, the total amount of which was more than 27 tons, was 11 minutes.

In addition to the accompanied baggage, for a comfortable stay in Russia and for the purposes of using during the FIFA World Cup, the national teams needed sports equipment, clothing, food, and medicines. Only for the delegation of the England national team, consisting of 58 people, Pulkovo Customs was issued over 15 tons of goods, excluding 8 tons of baggage.

The customs operations for goods intended for the organization and holding of the 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM were carried out using a special customs procedure without payment of customs fees in accordance with the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Pulkovo Customs not only met the participants of the 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM, but also saw off the South Korean national team as well as the rivals of the match for the third place: the national teams of England and Belgium, and also met and saw off the official foreign delegations and fans.

The Pulkovo Airport Customs Post during the 2018 World Cup RussiaTM became one of the busiest checkpoints within the North-Western Customs Administration"s footprint. It was strengthened by the secondment of 41 Customs officials of the North-Western Customs Administration, 9 officials of Pulkovo and Postal Customs Posts, 5 dog specialists and 12 students of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Customs Academy, who speak foreign languages.

The work of the Pulkovo-2 Temporary Terminal also helped to optimize performance and reduce the load on the Centralized Passenger Terminal.
