FCS is planning to place RFID tags on transit goods for tracking purposes starting from 2019

Starting from 2019, Federal Customs Service (FCS) may begin equipping transit goods to be transported across RF with special electronic tags containing cargo information and helping track it, said the first Deputy Head of the Service Ruslan Davydov on Friday.

He noted that such electronic tags may include the information necessary for customs, Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) and other.

He said previously, that European Region of the World Customs Organization is working on the problem of interconnecting European and Eurasian transit systems. It is planned to analyze this issue in the context of software and electronic devices.
